Hi there, meet Deb!
As the creator of the Guides by Deb website, I’ve had the privilege of crafting over 400 standards-aligned educator guides for picture books, middle-grade novels, young adult fiction, and books exploring topics from science to history. The tagline for Guides by Deb—“Keeping your books in the hearts of young readers and in the hands of those who care for them”—reflects my lifelong mission: connecting meaningful stories with the educators, parents, and librarians who champion them.
My journey into Pinterest marketing grew naturally from this work. As a fellow author, career educator, and Pinterest specialist, I now help authors, illustrators, and publishers elevate their visibility in local, digital, and academic arenas. I don’t just know Pinterest—I know books, and I understand the profound connection between storytelling and reaching readers where they are.
My career has uniquely prepared me to navigate the nuances of marketing literature on Pinterest. As an educator, I’ve served as Educational Director at Dallas Can Academy, Executive Director at St. James Montessori School in Dallas, Texas, and founder of Little Footprints Preschool in Sacramento, California.
As a mentor, I’ve taught Writing for Children and Young Adults at St. Edward’s University in Austin, helping aspiring authors hone their craft. As a writer, I hold an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and have published works of my own, giving me a deep understanding of authors' needs. As a leader, my role as an SCBWI Regional Advisor allowed me to guide and advocate for a thriving community of writers and illustrators. This breadth of experience enables me to tailor Pinterest marketing strategies that resonate deeply with audiences, combining data-driven insights with a focus on the heart of what matters—your story.
